Youth Conservation Crew—Teen Crew Member |
The Youth Conservation Crew is a unique opportunity for high school students (ages 14 -18) to give back to their community through a paid summer position.
Over the 8 weeks of our program, July 9 to August 29, participants work to hone their skill in teamwork, leadership, and stewardship as well as other employability factors.
The Crew is charged with documenting restoration they have completed, compiling results, and communicating the hard work they do to the rest of the community. Crew members enjoy their summer outdoors removing invasive species from natural areas and building and maintaining trails around Portland all while working in a diverse, cohesive, and challenging environment. |

Parkrose SUN Community school is currently recruiting for Summer Camp Counselors
Brief Job Description: responsible for designing, implementing & supervising a daily/weekly schedule of activities for a summer camp program held at Parkrose High School. Must be available to work the entire season (June 24-August 16, 2013 with mandatory trainings the afternoon/evening of Wednesday, June 19), and pass a criminal background check. Must be able to work in culturally and economically diverse neighborhoods
Requirements:
- 15 years of age or older by 6/18/13
- Experience leading activities and supervising youth participants (passive/active games, crafts, and sports)
- Experience in youth drop-in programs preferred
Responsibilities: Employee is responsible for leading activities supervising youth participants at outdoor settings (park playground) which are located in culturally and economically diverse neighborhoods. Plans, organizes, promotes, leads and conducts a comprehensive program for children’s drop-in recreation activities. Maintains discipline and safety and administers basic first aid. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety of program space. Employee must be willing to work in all weather. Must be able to supervise youth and consistently model appropriate behavior. Employee may not have family members or friends at job site.
Wage and Work Week
$9.00 – $11.25 hour based on qualifications, education and experience - 20, 30, 35 or 40 hour work week

Part-time ballet accompanist (pianist) needed at Multnomah Arts Center, a Portland Parks and Recreation facility that offers affordable art classes for all ages and skill levels.
This position involves good music reading skills and/or preparation time at home learning the material and/or good improvisation skills. The improvisation skills should not be limited to jazz, but should encompass “classical” style, usually more suitable to ballet. The written music is not necessarily advanced in terms of skill required, and the improvisation also need not be. But the musician must be able to play the written music well and/or improvise with confidence at the tempo, meter and rhythm required.
